Our program is built around healthy animals, calm temperaments, functional structure, and straightforward conversations with prospective owners.
The breed
Mini Highland cattle are valued for their distinctive Highland appearance, hardy nature, and approachable size. “Mini” describes a breeding goal rather than a promise that every animal will mature at one exact height. Genetics, sex, age, nutrition, and development all influence mature size.
At Marazzito Ranch, we discuss each animal individually—including known parentage, health information, temperament, chondro status when applicable, and realistic expectations—so buyers can make an informed decision.
Our breeding priorities
We balance appearance and manageable size with the traits that matter every day on a working ranch.
Responsible care, appropriate nutrition, observation, and clear health information come first.
We value cattle that can be handled calmly and placed thoughtfully with the right owners.
Feet, movement, balance, and functional build matter alongside the classic Highland look.
We discuss known genetics, size expectations, registration status, and individual traits without overpromising.
Breeding decisions consider the complete animal and the qualities a pairing may pass forward.
Placement conversations include the buyer’s property, goals, experience, and plan for care.
Chondro status
Chondrodysplasia—or “chondro”—is a genetic condition associated with shorter stature in some miniature cattle. A non-chondro animal does not carry that particular chondro gene. Status is one part of understanding an animal and a proposed pairing; it does not replace a complete review of health, structure, parentage, and expected size.
When status is known, Marazzito Ranch identifies cattle as chondro or non-chondro and confirms the available information directly with a prospective buyer.
